Wilted Spring

Through her mellow eyes she saw
The Sun setting in the distance.
The frost had begun to thaw,
Nature embracing spring with no resistance.

But her eyes were cold and grey,
The fire had died out long ago.
Life seemed like one long day,
She, a traveler with no place to go.

Never again would the rays bless her,
Nor would the moonlight bestow
Radiance – would never caress her,
Her skin would never brightly glow.

For Life had forgotten her long ago,
And she had never complained.
The garden was green no more,
And the flowers had also waned.
