I may sound like Scrooge, but it really makes me wonder: Why exactly do we need to celebrate Valentine's Day? Is there only one day in the year that you can profess your love to somebody, or tell that person (s)he is special? If you love somebody, the most sincere thing you can do is let the person know how much you care. Instead of spending a few minutes everyday to do this, we spend hundreds and thousands of bucks to make up for the lost moments. Sorry, but that does not sound like a romantic proposition to me! In fact, its only the card & gift industry that seems to enjoy the 'festival' most.
So, my advice to everybody who's in love (or expects to be) is to chuck Valentine's Day and make every single day a special one.
