All About Me!

I'm glad to share that I have been invited by Rebecca of the Clearly Bex blog to answer some questions about myself! This linky was started by Gina from Cold Tea and Smelly Nappies after receiving an All About Me booklet to fill in from her daughters school. She thought it would be a nice way to get to know the person behind the blog a little more.

I love joining in fun posts like this, so here are my answers to the ten questions asked:

1) First off tell us your name and what you do (nice easy one there)...
Tarana Khan (TK). I am a stay-at-home mom to a two year old boy, and what do I do apart from looking after my family and the house? I blog right here!

2) I live at home with...
My husband and son. We don't have pets because I wouldn't know how to take care of them!

3) My favourite thing to do is…
Write, without a doubt. Reading comes to a close second - I only wish I could do it more often.

4) My favourite thing to eat is…
Any dish that contains rice - like  chicken biryani! But I also love all forms of desserts - who doesn't?

5) When I get cross I…
Lose my temper, and I don't like letting that happen! Must say that becoming a mom has really instilled a lot of patience in me,

6) Sometimes I worry because...
This world is becoming such an unsafe and dangerous place. I worry for the future of our children.

7) My favourite book is…
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. But this is a very difficult question, really. I love reading classics. My current favourite authors are William Dalrymple, Khaled Hosseini and Orhan Pamuk. The book I am reading at the moment is Best Kept Secret by Jeffrey Archer.

8) My favourite toy is (easy now)…
Can I say my mobile phone? I'm always on it!

9) I dislike…
Clutter. It's not that I don't like a bit of mess (you get used to it with a toddler), but I cannot stand useless junk lying around the house.

10) When I grow up I want to be…
Known (even if marginally) for my writing. I want to be a mom my child can turn to in any situation, and I want to do whatever I can to help those in need, especially children.

Now, I can I tag up to five bloggers to participate in 'All About Me', and I have chosen three:

Rachel at The Tao of Poop

Sara at Mumturnedmom

Suzanne at 3 Children and It

Just to let you know, this is a just-for-fun linky and there is no pressure to participate!

I love The Kite Runner. Such a great book. I think your "what to be when I grow up" answer is awesome!

Thank you so much for tagging me, Tarana! I have a question for you...Do people call you "Tarana" or "TK"? Other thoughts...I'm jealous that you seem to have found the resources to have a two year old, blog AND continue to read books. I love to read, but feel it is one of the things that has gone by the wayside since becoming a parent (there are lots of others too!) I can really relate to losing my temper and then hating that side of myself. Also, being a parent has helped me in this way too. Kids can be great teachers!

It's a pleasure, Rachel - I think you're an awesome blogger, and mom! Good question about my name - some of my friends call me TK, so I adopted this alias for blogging so it would be easy to remember. I like it though, when people use my first name - it is a little different! Don't think it's easy - I continued reading until Little Dude was three months and I have only resumed it now that he naps longer and isn't always on me. I guess the reason I have more time on my hands is because we don't have a lot of family and friends here, so our socializing is limited. You can do it too, just pick up a book, and read at your own pace!

Aha when you tagged me, I thought is was the A-Z of me meme! That one's first and then I'll come back to this one, looks like fun but don't want to overload people! I think a lot of my answers will be very similar to yours ;)
