A day of kites, sun and sand

Over the weekend, we decided to visit the 3rd International Kite Festival happening outside Dubai Outlet Mall. I figured Little Dude would be interested in seeing lots of kites, since he knows what they are are, and has shown an interest in them. It turned out to be an unusually hot day for the rainy and cloudy weather we've been having lately. We reached the venue when the sun was at its peak, and the sand dunes reflecting the sunshine made it even harder to see the kites! And there were many of them. Hundreds of people turned up, and the atmosphere was definitely of a festival. The only disappointment was that there was nothing 'international' about this event, but everyone seemed to be having a good time anyway.

All those dots are kites!

It wasn't long before Little Dude wanted to have a go on his own. While his Dad managed to get one off the ground, he 'flew' his own. Later on, he found a toy donkey/burro to ride on, and had a good time dancing to the music that was being played at the venue.

We did manage to see some large kites, but the 'kite-flying experts' had a hard time getting them off the ground, maybe because it was getting windy!

It was a good day nevertheless. It's always fun doing something outdoors, and let's hope we make the most of it while the good weather lasts!

We love kite festivals - they have one in a town near us each year and we make every effort to go as they have some professionals putting on a show to music...it's amazing. But the part I love best is when all the kids are flying their kites and some are much better at it than the grown ups! #MagicMoments

It must be so much fun watching all the different kites. I'm completely useless when it comes to flying one but I've only ever tried when I was about 8 :)

I've never flown one in my life, but it was fun watching them fly!

It looks like there were some impressive kites there, and what a venue - the beach! I can see Little Dude had a great time and perhaps when he gets a bit bigger will be able fly his own. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
