We're distracted parents, and that's fine

Remember the time I wrote about the guilt I felt when Little Dude asked me to keep away my phone? I used to feel bad about using my phone or computer around him, but I am a bit more relaxed now. I think using gadgets is ingrained in our lifestyles, and there's no escaping it. I've shared these thoughts and more in my guest post, Distracted Parenting, on The Oliver's Madhouse. I have been visiting Jamie's blog every Monday for her linky, Magic Moments, and it's just super to be published on her blog today! Head on over and tell me what you think - are you a distracted parent too?

Wow! I am so happy I came across your informative!!! I especially liked the link to UAE4kidz. My husband and I are possibly moving to Dubai in the fall to teach. We have a 1 year old and a 4 year old. I might be teaching at a private international school. I am excited but also very nervous...I have been searching lots of blogs to find out as much as possible. Many of the teachers I have read blogs from have said it is TERRIBLE...but they all teach in Abu Dabi. Do you know much about the schools in Dubai?
I look forward to hearing from you!

Hi Heidi, happy you found my blog useful! If you drop me an email on tarana(at)sandinmytoes(dot)tk or message me on my Facebook page, I can direct you to some forums. Unfortunately, I have no idea about teaching in schools here!

Sweet on your guest post, Tarana! I know that is such a huge honor anytime that happens. And while I don't have any kids (other than Phoenix) I do get it it with devices and distractions as I had two little boys once upon a very long time ago. I will click on over there now :)

Thank you, Mike, for visiting my post and leaving a comment. Kids or no kids, we are too distracted anyway!

I'm the exact same way as you. I used to feel so guilty for being on my computer/phone, but I've realized now that moderation is fine. It's so easy to get sucked into the technology world, but as long as we make our kiddies number one... That's all that matters. :)

So glad you could relate. Balance is the key, really!

I'm more distracted than I'd like to be!

So many times Little M would come to me and softly tell me to switch off the laptop. That's when I find myself in a pool of guilt. This post makes me feel better. :)

Tell me what you think about this post!
