What to expect from 'Sand In My Toes' in 2014!

I already know that 2014 is going to be a special year for this blog. Especially because, later this month, I'll be celebrating its first year blogversary! There will be more on that later, but I would like to take you through what you can expect from me in the coming months. I have a special guest post lined up for January, and I will be contributing my writing to at least three other blogs this month! In February, I will flying back home to India for our annual vacation, but I'll be blogging throughout, and hopefully, sharing some travel stories.

What 2014 holds for Sand In My Toes

I will continue writing about all that is close to my heart, and you can follow the adventures and fun that I have with Little Dude. I'll continue to share my experiences in Dubai. I will also try to share more posts on blogging tips that seem to be popular with readers.

In particular, here are a few of my blogging goals for this year:

Toddler activities and craft: Little Dude has started showing an interest in sitting around long enough to do a few activities. I got him his first box of crayons, and he loves them. We also tried making home made play dough and it is a hit! We always invent new games in which we can play and learn. Let me warn you - my Pinterest experiments are anything but photogenic! I'll try to share more about the activities and craft we end up doing, but for me, the fun is in the making and not the end result. Hopefully, the end result will be worth photographing to share with you all!

Outdoor activities and travel: This is the perfect time in Dubai to explore everything outdoors. I'll try to make the most of the good weather to share more of this beautiful city and country. Even if we don't travel overseas, I will make an effort to see all that the UAE has to offer, and write about it.

Getting more social: I'm finally figuring out how to use social media beyond Twitter, and I do love having a good discussion on my Facebook page. Pinterest has got me hooked too, and I am finding a good number of bloggers and other interesting people there. To be honest, Google+ is still a bit of a mystery, but I am going to get on top of it, and then share what I learn. Instagram is also on my list, and perhaps the only reason I have stayed away from it is because I don't take many pics on my phone. But I am determined to see what I can do with it. Offline, I would like to attend a blogging conference whenever it happens in this part of the world.

Branded content: I have started doing sponsored posts and writing about brands, but I only do so when something is relevant to the blog. Monetisation is not something I'm singularly after, but it is fun working with brands because it reminds me of my reporting days! I also have some giveaways planned. In fact, there's a good one coming next week! Stay tuned, and maybe, sign up for my newsletter.

New voices: I love the contributions I am getting for the A Day Like Today series. I'll also try to capture the unique experiences of many bloggers I know by inviting them to write for me. There's one professional who will be writing for this blog next week, and I'm looking forward to sharing her expertise with you! Among the new voices, I'll also try to include posts about social causes that deserve attention, and I hope to find admirable people who are working hard for others, so I can share their stories.

I don't like to plan too far ahead in the future. I like to be surprised, and there should be a lot of excitement in store this year. Whatever happens, I know I just want to just writing.

Happy New Year, and thank you for making my blogging efforts worthwhile!

I'm really looking forward to reading more about your adventures in Dubai and am definitely looking forward to seeing your photos and reading your tales about India. I've always been fascinated by India but have yet to visit.

Your India trip sounds wonderful! I can't wait to read more about that. Love your blogging goals. Now, I need to check out your cool series!!

Also looking forward to reading about your trip. I'm definitely with you when it comes to Google+. It seems to be all or nothing. Some people are totally into it and join groups, attend "hangouts," etc., and the rest of the people are still "figuring it out," including me!! I'm definitely still a work in progress when it comes to social media.

I agree, it can be baffling. But I am determined to figure out Google+ because I have a feeling it's going to be the most rewarding of all social media networks. Thanks for stopping by!
