20 Holiday Cards To Make With Kids

Like the tradition of writing letters by hand, I love making cards of my own. Sadly, this practice is dying rapidly, and may already be extinct in many places. In order to preserve this beautiful tradition, I hope to make at least a few handmade cards a year. The holiday season is a great time to bring out the art supplies, as Christmas offers many creative themes for handmade cards and gifts.

It's also a good way to get the kids involved. Besides, cards made by children are extra special and also serve as keepsakes. Close friends and family would love getting such cards, each of which would be unique and personal.

I've put together a list of twenty holiday card ideas, classified by theme, that you can help your kids make. In fact, they are so easy, the kids will be doing most of the work!

20 holiday or Christmas cards kids can make

Snowman handmade holiday cards

We made our own Textured Snowman Art which would make a lovely card with a pop-out effect.

Check out this Snowmen Outline Card with lots of stick-on accessories on Teach Me Mommy.

These Fingerprint Snowmen on Crafty Morning look great for a card with a personal touch.

An interesting painting technique has been used to make this Pointillism Snowman on Meaningful Mama.

Reindeer handmade holiday cards

There are some good ideas on handmade Christmas cards, especially this Reindeer Handprint Card on Be A Fun Mum.

An easy one is this Reindeer Pom Pom Card on Hodge Podge Craft, and there's a free printable template included!

Using thumbprints is another creative way to make a Reindeer Sleigh Card, on Crafty Morning.

Another simple idea is to make this Potato Print Reindeer Cardon Our Little House in the Country!

Santa handmade holiday cards

This Santa Craft would make a great Christmas card, by I Heart Crafty Things.

Another craft that would look good on a card is this Santa Star Ornament on Buggy and Buddy.

I love this cute Handprint Santa Card on Fun Handprint Art.

This pretty Santa Hat Card has been made by Hands On As We Grow.

Christmas Tree handmade holiday cards

I like the use of buttons to make this Button Christmas Tree card on Adventure In a Box.

A creative and fun technique has been used to make these Bubble Wrap Christmas Cards on Learn With Play At Home.

A resist painting technique creates a beautiful Tape Resist Forest art on Left Brain Craft Brain. It would make a lovely Christmas card!

Simple is best, as you can see in this toddler-made Christmas Tree Card on Messy Little Monster.

Christmas handmade holiday cards

If you want something different, try making this Gingerbread House Card, by Red Tart Art.

This beautiful Glitter Banner Card on Happiness Is Homemade is just perfect for Christmas!

Snowflakes look wonderful on Christmas cards, so check out this lovely Snowflake Card using a very simple technique on Kids Activities Blog

Another creative use of buttons has been made in these Bauble Christmas Cards on Here Come The Girls.

So, don't rush to buy cards from the store yet! I hope these ideas have inspired you to get together with your family and make your holidays even more special with handmade cards.
