A family day out at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai (Review)

A weekend break is always welcome in our busy lives, and is such a relief from the daily whirlwind of routines and to-do lists. The only thing is, you may not always be in a position to splurge on an overnight stay at a resort, or you may only have a day off to spend time with your family. A good compromise for having a holiday feel without going overboard on expenses is to spend the day at your favourite resort.

The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai (located at The Walk, Jumeirah Beach Residences) now offers families a great option - a day experience at their beautiful beach resort. The resort has it's own private beach (all 350 meters of it) and lovely lawns with all of six swimming pools.

As we reached there one weekend morning, our first stop, of course, was the family pool! There's always a kids pool next door with a water slide for added fun. My favourite was the pool with the waterfall - for soaring temperatures, it's really the best thing to get into.

After cooling off, Little Dude and I headed to their kids club - Ritz Kidz. The play space is quite large compared to a few others I've seen, and well stocked with toys and board games. I must add that the staff headed by Miss Raquel were wonderful with the kids, and also involved them in doing some interesting activities and crafts.

Little Dude enjoyed making his own smoothie.
It's hard to keep kids away from the pool, but Little Dude liked it so much at Ritz Kidz that he stayed until lunch time!

For lunch, we headed to their newly opened Caravan Restaurant. This multi-cuisine restaurant is led by Chef Moorthy, who was kind enough to give Little Dude a tour of his kitchen!

Our buffet lunch included Indian, Mediterranean and Continental dishes. I loved the seekh kebabs which were succulent and beautifully flavored. They went very well with the freshly baked sesame naan and the green chutney. I was happy that they had set up small tables for the kids. Little Dude had some mac and cheese and penne pasta for his lunch.

Post lunch, we got the kids busy decorating cookies, while we adults received some healthy cookie baking advice from Pastry Chef Dustin. I paid special attention because I have no baking skills whatsoever!

There was more fun ahead for both adults and kids. We headed to the beautiful Baie Lounge for a special healthy drink making class with 'Beverage Guru' Dominik.

The guy is really a guru because he taught us to make some wonderful concoctions such as Hibiscus Strawberry Slushie, Ginger-Honey Iced Tea, and Sparkling Coconut Water with Fruit Skewers.

Meanwhile, the kids played some outdoor games in the lawns. Some of their fun games included tug of war, hula hoops, a treasure hunt, and breaking open a pinata!

We decided to skip the beach as it was still quite warm, for more time in the pool before leaving for home. But we'll certainly be back to make more memories!
