Busy Hands: Flaming Towers - Pretend play craft

Little Dude loves playing with fire engines, and he has quite a few! He's always playing 'putting out the fire', so I thought we should make something to enable that game. What we've made are very simple 'flaming' towers in which you can actually put out the fire.

A fun craft to make towers on fire for pretend play with fire engines.

These are the materials you need to make the Flaming Towers:

- Cardboard tubes (2-3)
- Crepe paper/tissue paper in red, yellow, and orange
- A black or blue marker pen
- White paper (2 sheets)
- Glue
- Sticky tape

Here's how we made it:

1. We used one kitchen roll and one toilet roll to make the towers. We used another roll to cut out small sections (about 1.5 inch/ 4 cm thick) and made a single cut on the sections (see below).

2. Draw windows and a door for each tower on white paper, and taping at one end, cover the tube all around.

3. Next, cut out small strips of the crepe or tissue paper and stick them on the small tube sections to make the 'fire'.

4. You can then place these sections on top of the towers by wrapping them around, and take them off easily. If you find the sections too loose, just give them a squeeze to tighten them.

Little Dude had fun playing with his fire engine and fireman, and toppling off the fire to put it out! You can also make towers like these to make a play city.

Have fun!
