Busy Hands: Flying Rocket Craft

If your little one loves outer space as much as my son, you'll love making this 'flying' rocket with them! We call it a flying rocket because it has flames at the end, and it's pretty easy to make, with only a few materials.

Making a 'flying' rocket - fun craft for kids!


These are the materials you need to make this Flying Rocket Craft:


- Cardboard tube (we used a kitchen towel roll)
- Craft paper in yellow and orange
- Round foam stickers
- Red, yellow, and orange tissue or crepe paper
- Sticky tape
- White craft glue

This is how to make it:


1. Roll the yellow craft paper around the cardboard tube. Glue it at one end to start with, wrap around, and glue at the other end.

2. Make a cone with the orange craft paper, and cut off the excess so it has a proper cone shape. Measure it so it will fit around the top of the tube. 

3. Add some glue around the edges of the top of the tube, place the cone on it, and let dry for about 10 minutes. If the cone is a good fit, it shouldn't come off.

Instructions to make a craft rocket for play.

4. Cut out triangle shapes to make the wings of the rocket, and tape on each side at the bottom of the tube.

5. Cut thin strips of the tissue paper in red, orange, and yellow, and glue to the bottom of the rocket to make the 'fire'.

6. Finally, stick blue foam stickers on the rocket to make the windows, or simply use blue paper.

Flying Rocket Craft for Kids


Kids will have fun playing with the rocket, or they can just hang it up and watch it fly in the breeze!
