Family Eats: Have your fill at Pie Face, Dubai!

There's something about a pie that makes it such an inviting dish! Your favourite filling encrusted in flaky pastry, all warm and ready to dig into. It's perfect for when you have a hunger craving. There are few establishments in Dubai which serve good pies, so we were happy to visit Pie Face in Dubai Marina recently and test drive their signature pies.

This bakery and cafe, originating from Australia, serves pies with a twist. Each savoury pie has an expression unique to its filling. In fact, Pie Face was founded in 2003 in Sydney by a couple who wanted to add something a step above the Aussie meat pie to their family dinner table.

We tried most of their fillings (and were glad they have mini pies!). Some of our favourites were Arabian Lamb, Minced Beef, Chunky Steak, and Pizza. Little Dude only liked the Chicken & Mushroom - this mildly spiced pie is great for kids.

If that's not enough, they also have a range sweet pies. Hands down, my favourite was the Belgian Dark Chocolate pie. It was heavenly! We also liked the Caramel pie, Rasberry and White Chocolate pie, and the Apple Pie.

They also serve sandwiches, but there aren't many to choose from as of now. We had a taste of the Turkey Cheese sandwich with a side of Potato Wedges. While we decided we liked the pies better, we did enjoy our lemonades flavoured in mint, berry, and apple.

They also served us their special Brooklyn Cheesecake, which had a very different texture from the regular variety. It tasted more like creamy pudding, and was delicious!

Pie Face is a nice place to stop over if you're looking for a quick meal, although I do wish they had more side dishes and salads in their menu. It's also fun for kids because the mini pies are perfect for them.

A mini pie costs AED 8 (and AED 20 for 3), while a regular pie costs AED 20. Pie Face is located at Marina Walk, and Al Wasl Road in Dubai, and Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi. Visit their Facebook page for details.

Pie Face is also offering Iftar platters during Ramadan, and has also introduced the Ramadan Honey Date N Nut pie, which would make a lovely gift to take to friends.

We were invited to visit Pie Face for the purpose of review, but all views and opinions are my own.
