Family Eats: Brunch at Arjaan by Rotana, Dubai Media City

If you don't feel like cooking on the weekend, Dubai offers so many brunches for that the whole family can enjoy. We recently tried the Friday Brunch at Arjaan By Rotana, located in Dubai Media City. It was our first time visiting this place, and I liked the interiors, which reminded me of Mediterranean-style architecture.

The brunch is hosted at Arabesque Cafe, their signature restaurant. The restaurant is quite large with various seating options, including a comfortable lounge.

We were happy to see the clown greet us at the entrance! He gave Little Dude a balloon so that started things on a good note.

The cuisine is mainly Arabic, with a mix of other cuisines as well. The starters had some cold mezze items like beetroot moutabel, hummus, cold cuts, and cheese. Continental salads in the buffet included chicken pineapple salad, and seafood salad.

There were quite a few dishes to choose from for the main course. My favourites were the saffron chicken with rice, and the grilled seafood. They also had broccoli with almonds, lamb tagine, beef steak with rosemary, and chicken molokhia. Non-Arabic dishes included chana masala, and penne in white sauce.

We were also glad to see that there was a separate buffet with snacks and desserts for kids. There were chicken nuggets and sandwiches here, apart from doughnuts and a chocolate fountain. Little Dude helped himself to some, before sampling from the main buffet.

There is a play space for kids at the restaurant with a television set, but Little Dude didn't use it as there were no activities planned that day.

The dessert menu was impressive, with multi-cuisine desserts including pies, cheescakes, and mousse. I liked that there were Arabian sweets in the buffet, since that's hard to find in most brunches.

The best thing about the Friday Brunch at Arjaan by Rotana, Dubai Media City is that you can have a hearty meal at only AED 109 per person with soft drinks. Kids under 6 years eat free, and those aged between 6 to 12 years are charged AED 49 each. The brunch takes place every Friday at Arabesque Cafe between 12 pm to 4 pm. See more details on their website.

We were invited to review this brunch, but all views and opinions are my own.
