Family Eats: Christmas Buffet at Movenpick Hotel JLT

Christmas is always celebrated in style here in Dubai. The traditional food served at this festival can be elaborate and whipping it all up at home can't be easy. So, here's the easy way out - just head out to the Christmas brunch at Movenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers.

We visited them a week ago for their lovely tree lighting ceremony, a beautiful affair with a talented choir from Jumeirah Primary School, and of course, a visit from Santa!

We also previewed the Christmas buffet at Nosh, their all-day dining restaurant which has spacious indoor seating as well as al fresco dining on the terrace.

The setting was festive with a bedecked gold and red Christmas tree at the entrance of the restaurant. There were lots of little touches like elves that gave the buffet a Christmas-sy look. The food itself was impressive. It was our first time dining at Nosh we really liked the creative presentation of everything from salads to desserts.

Some of my favourites from the salad station included the cucumber cups, the quinoa salad, and the pana cotta.

For appetizers, there was a nice cheese and chutney station. It included fresh fruits, vegetables, and nuts, with cold cuts.

The main buffet featured many different cuisines, including Arabic cold mezze, shawarma, and lamb ouzi. I also liked the vegetable lasagna. Indian dishes were offered too, like chicken tikka, as was a variety of Japanese sushi. And also a fresh seafood station. So, there's something to suit everyone's taste.

The highlight of the buffet was roasted turkey and roast beef carved before you. It was served with traditional cranberry sauce and roasted sweet potatoes and beets.

Having dined at other Movenpick hotels, I've seen that they are very creative with their desserts! We were not disappointed this time either. Think snowman cupcakes, mince pies, and cookies. They also had a cotton candy machine and white chocolate fountain.

The Yule Log was delicious too with its hazelnut filling, and can be ordered separately from Nosh for AED 90.

The Christmas Day Brunch at Nosh in Movenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lakes Towers will be held on December 25 from 12.30 pm to 3.30 pm. Apart from the delicious dishes above, there will be whole roast lamb, and a special Power Bites buffet for kids, and a visit from Santa.

The Christmas Day Brunch costs AED 205 with soft beverages. AED 315 with selected beverages, and AED 535 with bubbly. Kids under six dine for free, and kids aged 6 to 12 get a 50% discount.

We were invited to review the Christmas buffet at Nosh, but all views and opinions are my own.
