Fun day at Mattel Play! Town

At four, my son is at that age where soft play can be less than challenging. He wants to do more exciting things, and it can be hard to find things he would enjoy that are appropriate for his age. There's a new play area in town at City Walk Dubai and it has all the right elements to get my Little Dude's attention!

The biggest attraction at Mattel Play Town are is the characters. The place is divided into five areas dedicated to each of these popular characters - Bob The Builder, Fireman Sam, Angelina Ballerina, Thomas & Friends, and Barney

The biggest pull for Little Dude was Bob The Builder. He loves everything about this character, and he likes construction activities. So, we spent quite some time at this section constructing walls and loading them up in Muck, the dump truck. Scoop was there too, the cute yellow digger. They have a sand pit with diggers for the kids, and also stations with kinetic sand.

Our second favourite spot was the Thomas & Friends soft play. It's a multi-level area with everything from a ball pit to tunnels and slides. It's built for little kids, so you don't have to worry about them much. One of the best things about this area is that there's a viewing platform built like a railway station where parents can sit and keep an eye on the kids. It also have Thomas & Friends toys for the kids to play with.

The Fireman Sam area is built like a rescue training center. The actual obstacle course requires a harness and is best for older kids. There is a small soft play there for the little ones, and they can also sit in Jupiter, the fire engine.

For little girls, there's a lovely studio themed around Angelina Ballerina. Girls can dress up in tutus and dance on the interactive, sparkly dance floor. We didn't stay around here long, although the dance floor was fun!

On level one is Barney's play house. You'd be surprised at how well it has been replicated. Everything from the tree to the dress-up box, and the playground. We really loved the interactive fish pond there. The fish and water actually move when you step onto the projection!

Inside, they have a library for reading, an interactive drawing screen, and a corner with musical instruments.

Mattel Play Town hosts daily Barney shows. The kids love it, and all the staff joins in with the dancing! The other characters also make appearances at their areas. Make sure you ask the staff for their schedule as soon as you get there. Sadly, we missed meeting Fireman Sam.

At only AED 95 per child, and AED 55 per adult, Mattel Play Town is a great deal. It caters to kids between two and ten years of age. I would say it's best suited for three to six year olds.

They also have a self-serve cafe which serves warm food, fruits, and snacks.

Mattel Play Town is located at City Walk Dubai, with free basement parking. For more information, visit their website or follow them on Facebook

We were invited to visit Mattel Play Town, but all views and opinions are sincerely my own.
