Toddler Tales (22): Twinkle Twinkle

Little Dude's turning out to be quite a talker! He's very quick to learn new words, which also means that we have to be very careful about what we say around him. He has acquired a habit of talking to himself. Maybe he's just practising new words he's learned. Maybe he entertains himself that way. Or maybe he likes the sound of the words! One day, I caught him reciting 'Twinkle, twinkle little star' and it was really a beautiful moment. I have been singing him to sleep right from the beginning, and this rhyme is one I use often. He remembers most of the words, and actually recites the extended version ('When the blazing sun is gone...'). Of course, he can't say all the words, but it does sound very cute! At first, he was a little shy to do an encore for us, but now he sings it on demand. I wonder what other little rhymes he's got in that little mind of his?

Twinkle Twinkle is my children's favourite song before they go to bed every night. It has been for years. I still remember the first time my youngest sang it by himself. Brought tears to my eyes. It's such a lovely moment for you :)

My daughter's favorite is Twinkle Twinkle too! She also loves the extended version, which I find funny because I don't know the words to it myself. I love thinking about you singing your LO to sleep, Tarana. So sweet! Just perfect!

Thanks so much, Rachel! I'm not a very good singer, though.

This is fantastic, Ethan started singing (in his way) Twinkle Twinkle this time last year. He is always humming some little tune to himself. Can't wait to hear about what he sings next.

Thanks for linking up with Small Steps Amazing Achievements :0) (Sorry It's taken me a while to get round to this post)
